SALVATION BY 'WHAT' OR 'WHOM'?

Should one come to the Bible assuming that it is an instructional manual that gives a person the “steps” to take in order to achieve Life from God. Is it correct to believe that the Bible provides a “pattern” that one is to flawlessly duplicate in order to be pleasing to God as it relates to being saved? Or does the Bible, in principle, uphold the following:

SALVATION IS NOT IN A “PASSAGE” BUT IN A PERSON.

SALVATION IS NOT IN A “SYSTEM” BUT IN A SAVIOR.

SALVATION IS NOT IN “THE WRITTEN WORD” BUT IN THE LIVING WORD.

SALVATION IS NOT IN A “PATTERN” BUT IN A GRACIOUS PROVIDER.

SALVATION IS NOT IN A “PLAN” BUT A MAN, THE SON OF MAN, JESUS THE SON OF GOD.

SALVATION IS NOT IN A “COMMAND” BUT IN THE CRUCIFIED CHRIST.

Salvation is not achieved by some humanly devised “steps”. It is graciously bestowed upon all who trust, in obedience of faith, the Lord Jesus Christ. Why? Because Jesus took the step to the Cross in our behalf. It was by Jesus’ “one act of righteousness “ that resulted in bringing life to all men. And this was so because of God’s “abundant provision of grace”(See Romans 5:15-21).

“So too, at the present time there is a remnant chosen by grace. And if it is by grace, then it is no longer by works; if it were, grace would no longer be grace”(Romans 11:5-6). - Larry Deason
